A South African enterprise technology company
Registered in Cape Town in 2017. Three practices — integration, custom engineering and a venture studio — run by the same people who carry the on-call phone.
Who we are
InnovaTech Group is the trading name of INNOVATECH GROUP (PTY) LTD, registration number 2017/044479/07, a private company registered in South Africa in 2017 and based in Cape Town, in the Western Cape. We work with mid-to-large organisations on enterprise systems integration, bespoke software engineering, and products built inside our own venture studio.
How the company is structured
Three practices share one engineering organisation.
Integration and orchestration is the largest, and the one most client relationships start with. It covers integration architecture, event-driven backbones, iPaaS orchestration and the API layer over existing systems.
Custom engineering builds the applications that no product covers — cloud-native, documented and handed over with everything needed to run them without us.
The venture studio builds and operates our own SaaS products. It is not a side project: it is where the capability the other two practices sell gets tested against our own operational risk, and it is how the business builds value that is not billed by the hour.
Client services — hosting, domains, memberships and support for our subscription clients — run through the client portal at innovatechgroup.co.za, and hosting sold on its own runs under our Yamahost brand.
The Global Delivery Model
Most offshore delivery fails in the same place: the people who understand the client are not the people who make the architectural decisions, and the gap between them is filled with documents.
We split it differently. Localised strategy and enterprise architecture leadership sit close to the client — in their timezone, familiar with their regulatory environment, and accountable for the design and the commercial relationship. Hybrid engineering hubs carry implementation, scaling up and down with the work rather than leaving you paying for a bench between projects.
For South African clients that means POPIA-aware design by default, invoicing in Rands, and an architecture lead who can be in the room. For international clients it means the same engineering capability at a delivery cost that comparable onshore teams struggle to match, with an architecture lead working their hours rather than sending updates overnight.
The model has a second purpose, which is the reason the /impact page exists. Hybrid engineering hubs need a pipeline of people, and in South Africa that pipeline is narrower than the demand. The Innovative Technologies Africa partnership is our contribution to widening it — for us that is a supply question as much as a social one, which is why we treat it as strategy rather than charity.
How we got here
The company was registered in 2017 and spent its first years doing what a great many South African technology businesses do: hosting, domains, websites and IT support for small and mid-sized organisations. That work is still with us — it runs as INNOVATECH™ Managed Services memberships and under the Yamahost brand — and it taught the lesson the rest of the business is built on.
The lesson is that almost nothing a growing organisation struggles with is caused by the individual systems it runs. It is caused by the gaps between them. The website, the accounting package, the stock system and the support inbox can each work perfectly while staff still retype the same order three times, because none of those systems was ever introduced to the others. Closing those gaps is consistently worth more than anything else on a maintenance contract, and it is the work nobody was selling.
So we moved up the stack deliberately: from keeping systems running to connecting them, and from connecting them to building what does not exist. The venture studio came last, because building products is only responsible once the engineering capability behind them is real.
Where we work
Our head office is in Cape Town, and we meet clients across the Western Cape and Gauteng. Elsewhere in South Africa and internationally, engagements run remotely with the architecture lead working the client's hours, and travel arranged for the sessions that genuinely warrant being in a room — kick-off, architecture review and go-live decisions.
How we engage
We do not send proposals before we understand an estate. Enterprise work starts with an assessment — two to three weeks for integration, a shorter discovery for a build — which produces a diagram, a target architecture and a ranked, sequenced plan. That output is yours whether or not you continue with us.
After that, engagements take one of four shapes: a fixed-scope build, dedicated engineering capacity against a backlog you prioritise, architecture and review alongside your own team, or a rescue of work that has stalled. Which one fits is a commercial conversation and it is had before any code is written.
What we will tell you no about
We say no to work we should not take, and it is worth being explicit about which:
- Building software where an existing product would do the job for less.
- Big-bang rewrites of systems that are still running the business.
- Integration projects where nobody on the client side owns the outcome; without an internal owner these fail regardless of who builds them.
- Ventures that would compete with a client's market — we raise the conflict before an engagement, not after.
Governance and compliance
As a registered South African private company we file annual returns and prepare annual financial statements. Client engagements run under written agreements covering intellectual property, confidentiality and data protection. We sign non-disclosure agreements as a matter of course, and procurement teams can request our current registration, tax and B-BBEE documentation with an RFP response.
About the company
- Where is InnovaTech Group based?
- Cape Town, in South Africa's Western Cape. The registered entity is INNOVATECH GROUP (PTY) LTD, registration number 2017/044479/07. Enterprise architecture leadership works in the client's timezone, and engineering is delivered through hybrid hubs.
- What is the Global Delivery Model?
- Architecture leadership and commercial ownership sit close to the client; implementation runs through hybrid engineering hubs that scale with the work. It keeps the people making architectural decisions accountable to the client rather than separated from them by a document trail, and it means you are not funding a bench between projects.
- How many people work at InnovaTech Group?
- Engineering capacity flexes per engagement rather than sitting fixed, which is the point of the hybrid hub model — so a headcount number would be a snapshot rather than a useful answer. What we will tell you before an engagement is exactly who is on your team, what they are accountable for and how much of their time you have.
- Do you work with government or public-sector clients?
- We work with mid-to-large organisations in both the private and public sectors. Public-sector procurement has its own requirements around documentation, supplier registration and scorecards; our registration, tax and B-BBEE documentation is supplied with RFP responses on request.
